It has been raining a lot recently.
Trips to the beach have been canceled,
walks with friends did not happen ,
& picnics turned into lunch at home,
but strangely, we have been really enjoying it.

Emi really likes to write rain, too!

I am very thankful for the peace & quiet of a rainy day,
for the closeness it brings,
& for having an excuse to dress my little ones in handknits!

I hope you are having a lovely day.

Grateful Friday

This week we were grateful for

the few bits of sleep that this little one got,
being so very troubled by his soon to be teeth.

This little one running through the forest with incredible confidence,
feeling very much at home :

& the many many tries to make poor Georgie laugh despite the terrible toothing thing,
which lead to many photos of him looking rather, aehm, worried.

The computer is fixed, & we are back.
This morning , when the little ones & me went outside to get some fresh flowers ,
I remembered a quote i had read quite some time ago:

I’d rather have roses on my table than diamonds on my neck.
Emma Goldman

Yes, it sort of sums up the last couple of months around here.

I love how flowers instantly make breakfast feel really special.
Flowers & blueberry pancakes = bliss.

I hope you are having a good day!

Fathers Day was lovely, with two little one’s who love their daddy more than anything.

Emi & George made a sweet candle holder & a very useful pencil holder for their daddy:

The past week or so there has been a lot more dress up than usual.
Sure,Emi always loved to dress up as the monster fairy but it was more the fun of being able to put it on all by herownself.
Now, dressing up is about the pretending, the imagination and the stories.
She has been dressing up as all sorts of fun characters, but her favourite is little red riding hood :

(There’s a lot of galloping through the forest going on around here…)

She still sometimes is the monster fairy, though.

We found some fairie homes, little holes in magic trees, covered in soft green moss,

P1160223

but sadly we did not find any fairies, but we did find some wild horses:

Mealtime is a very important part of our daily life.
We all prepare our food together, then we all sit down, take each other’s hands
& say one of our blessings.

I still remember it from being little,
& our friends at playgroup do the same,
we connect, we take a moment to calm down,
we all say whichever blessing we choose together.

I love that,
so I want to share it with you.

P1150820

Here are three of our favourite blessings:

Thank you, Earth , for our food,
the vegetables, the bread, the fruit.
For every cup and plateful,
We are truly grateful.
Blessings on us & our family.

Earth we thank you for this food,
for rest and home and all things good,
for wind and rain and sun above, but most of all
for those we love.

Blessings on the blossom,
blessings on the root,
blessings on the leaf & stem
& blessings on the fruit.

If you have any mealtime blessings , I would love to hear them
& add them to our collection!

Have a lovely day
