Do you remember those fairie homes that we wanted to build last weekend?
Emily did, & asked to build some today, so I looked around for a quick way to build
something, & found this amazing place.
They are free, which is fantastic, & they are also really easy to build.
Look around the site,it is full of wonders & little surprises!
Here is what we have so far:

Fairy Furniture:

P1100648

&, my personal favourite, the flying fish car:

P1100651

I think I will spend the next few days building quite a lot of these,
it is really addictive!
Let me know if you build some, maybe send me a picture! :)

Today at our german playgroup, Nathan’s son Merlin showed off his newest
skill: Standing up without holding on.
That’s very good, one mum said. How old is he?
I don’t know. What’s the date today?
I don’t have a clue, I said.
No, I don’t, said another mother.
It is wednesday, I know that! helped out yet another.
We must have looked impressed, because she quickly added
I just know that because playgroup is on wednesday!

we never did find out what date it was.

This conversation made me so very happy.
This is what being a parent is like,
we forget what date it is, because we are so busy with the details,
with how our babies smell just after a bath,
how they eat all the carrots first, & then divide the peas into
two different parts to make a valley for the gravy,
how they count to twenty but always forget thriteen

The date? I don’t need to know the date,
I’ve got my babies.

Do you ever know what day of the week it is?
Which details do you remember?

I don’t know what happened, this weekend just flew by.
I had so very many plans for walks, adventures & games…
But sadly we did not do a lot,so today we tried to slow down a little bit.
We lit a candle & read every book a million times.
It sounds boring, but it
was so good. Yes, there is a lot to do, but what could be better than this?

How was your weekend?
How do you slow down?

I have been thinking a lot these past few days.
I am not at all happy with who I am,
as a person, as a mother & as a wife.
I have made some decisions,
& to remind me of these decisions I made a simple knot bracelet.

P1100422

To do this you take one long bit of yarn, tie one end around a pen
& start making your knots. I wrote down what each
of these knots stands for.
Maybe it will inspire you to make your own bracelet,
to think about who you are, who you want to be,
& how to get there.
I am nervous about sharing this, but, here you go:

Make one knot for forgiveness
one knot for lost friends,
one for the mistakes you made
and two for both your hands.

One for being grateful
one for being kind
one for talking quietly
two for the worries on your mind
one for every season
plus seven for the week
one for thinking about others every time you speak

this one is for compassion
and this one is for hope
one for being proud of yourself because of how you cope.

one is for the rainy days
and one is for the sun,
one for peacful evenings
and one for days of fun

the next ten knots are just for you,
who you were, who you’ll become,
then one for every little person that loudly calls you mum.

ten for little fingers
and ten for tiny toes,
think about the love for them while your bracelet grows.

one is for the lullabies that you sing at night,
one for leaving the night light on even though it is so bright.

one for kissing it all better
& one for holding hands,
one for doing most of the things your little one demands.

make the last few knots for a promise of what’s to come,
& rest assured, if you are scared,
you are not the only one.

Today after her nap Emily sneaked past me,
got my keys & went back to her bedroom with them.
Of course I follwed.
She was trying to unlock her window to get into the garden,
so we all put on our hats, scarves & coats & went outside.
It was a good day,

After all that fun noone wanted to leave,
so we stayed quite a long time,
now we all need a hot bath & a cup of tea!

Anthony & me are a bit better today.
The children? Not so much. While we got away with
a stomach ache & feeling sick, the poor little ones had
all the nasty symptoms.
George worried us when he slept 23 hours per day, but he
seems to be getting better now. He still refuses his milk & has
been drinking nothing but tummy tea .
Also, because Anthony & me were pretty much unable to move
I discovered how much fun Youtube playlists are, and Emi learned a few more german words from it as well! Did we watch the inauguration? Of course!
(Even though she did not find it as moving as I did..)
Did you watch it?

George slept through it.
P1100282

Hopefully today we will be back to normal, or at least to
as normal as it gets around here.
I got out some new books for Emi, & I hope to
finally build those fairy homes some time during this week.
There is also a lot of laundry & washing up to catch up
with, get-well packages to send, letters to write ,
phonecalls to return & emails to answer.
oh my.

What are your plans for the week?
Any fun plans?

What did you do today?
We are all ill, because we somehow caught the norovirus.
It is not nice, & we have just been snuggled up together
on the sofa, trying to keep the little ones hydrated.
P1100103

I hope you & your loved ones are all healthy.
We will be back as soon as we are feeling a little
better.

It has been raining today, really stormy even.
So we did not build any fairy homes, & we did not go
down to the beach but instead cuddled up on the sofa
with good books & boardgames , some drums to shoo the
thunder away & warm handknit socks.
Even though I miss being outside,
I love the rain, I love to be inside where it is warm & cozy,
& I love holding my family so very close.

(never mind my hair, who has the time to wash it, anyway?
not me!)

I would also like to invite all of you over to
Crunchy Mama , an exciting new project I am proud to be a part of.

Did your weekend go as planned?
Is it still cold or does it look like spring yet?
