I have been thinking a lot these past few days.
I am not at all happy with who I am,
as a person, as a mother & as a wife.
I have made some decisions,
& to remind me of these decisions I made a simple knot bracelet.

To do this you take one long bit of yarn, tie one end around a pen
& start making your knots. I wrote down what each
of these knots stands for.
Maybe it will inspire you to make your own bracelet,
to think about who you are, who you want to be,
& how to get there.
I am nervous about sharing this, but, here you go:
Make one knot for forgiveness
one knot for lost friends,
one for the mistakes you made
and two for both your hands.
One for being grateful
one for being kind
one for talking quietly
two for the worries on your mind
one for every season
plus seven for the week
one for thinking about others every time you speak
this one is for compassion
and this one is for hope
one for being proud of yourself because of how you cope.
one is for the rainy days
and one is for the sun,
one for peacful evenings
and one for days of fun
the next ten knots are just for you,
who you were, who you’ll become,
then one for every little person that loudly calls you mum.
ten for little fingers
and ten for tiny toes,
think about the love for them while your bracelet grows.
one is for the lullabies that you sing at night,
one for leaving the night light on even though it is so bright.
one for kissing it all better
& one for holding hands,
one for doing most of the things your little one demands.
make the last few knots for a promise of what’s to come,
& rest assured, if you are scared,
you are not the only one.
