We wish you all a very happy, peaceful new year,
do you have any new years resolutions?
Mine is to let things go, to worry less, to try to live
in the moment a little more, to simply enjoy life
with my beautiful (crazy!) family.
We will drive back home tomorrow morning,
& we can’t wait, even though I am sure we will
miss germany, & Emily will miss her new friend

It is getting really cold here,
around -7°C , but Emi has a lot of
knitwear to keep her warm, & Baby George just snuggles
up in the sling.

Georgie has been chewing on a violet root
to help with the teething, & he really loves it.
I highly suggest you get one for your teething babes!
We are off to meet my godchild now,
have a good day

Hello!
How are you?
We have been enjoying our family holiday,
but also realised a few things.
Christmas is a time for spending time with
the people you love, & not a time to have
arguments with people whose company you don’t
enjoy. Even though to us there is nothing more
important than family, sometimes you have to
decide who gets to be a part of it. In our case,
it’s an aunt we have no interest in talking to
anymore.
All of this really showed us how truly blessed we are with
the supportive & loving family we have.
It has been a great time for us so far,
& I have been enjoying my extra long morning cuddles
with Georgie,
there have been lots of cozy board game nights
& very cold & long winter walks:
No photo of me or Baby George here, our noses are too
bright red from the cold. (-5°C!)

minus 4 °C

We will be back home in a few
days, & i really can’t wait.
As much as I love germany
& our family here,
there’s no place like home.

We are really busy preparing,
just finished packing ( always a last minute thing ! ).
All the bookbaskets, white dogs, blue cats & dinosaurs are
where they should be, & I am starting to get a little nervous.
Now I am going to make a few sandwiches for the very long trip.
George-Ezra is having an angry day, so he will hopefully sleep in the car,
just like Emily, which is why she is having a nap now:
P1080421

I will wake her up
at around 10pm, give her a bath & then read & play till we leave.
Emily is already very excited to see her Mmha & Opa, (that’s how she says it, mmha.)
& meet her new Aunt & Uncle.
Christmas presents are, surprisingly, all finished & wrapped,
& the only thing left to do is a midnight shopping trip, because we
forgot to buy food for our trip.
I am going to update from germany,
& this time I won’t forget my camera, so there will
be quite a few pictues, hopefully.
I wish you & yours a magical & wonderful Christmas,
be safe, hold your loved ones close,
& remember

Other things may change us, but we start and end with family

When I was pregnant with Mister G ,
& people asked “What do you want?”
our answer was the usual
“oh, it does not matter,as long as he or she is healthy!”
But once we had all the checks & knew that the babe was
indeed very healthy, I got greedy.
I want a boy! I’d say.
After we found out about the babies gender my wish changed to
I want a boy with red hair!
But not even that was enough for me.
Emily has always been very independent, she’s not one
for hugs & kisses, she does everything herveryownself,
so i wished for
a boy with red hair who is very needy, who
will want to be held all the time, who will cry when anyone else
even just as much as looks at him!

& That is exactly what I got.
I can not put Georgie down for more than 5 minutes
without him getting very upset, & now that he is teething
not even that is okay anymore.
Last night I decided I need a break, so as soon as everyone
was asleep I sneaked out of the bedroom , sat down
at the table & started sewing, but after 5 minutes or so
I noticed something. I missed him.
I missed my little sewing & knitting buddy, who’d share
my frustration with an angry yell , my joys with a satisfied giggle,
who has unraveled so many knitting projects I already lost count…
So I went back to bed again, holding my baby close all night.
Sometimes I don’t realize just how lucky I am ,
& how truly wonderful it is that my children are exactly who they are.
That Emily does not like dolls or faeries but loves dinosaurs & trucks,
that Georgie enjoys being hugged & cuddled,
& that they are both so very lovely, cute & smart.
George even still has that delicious new-baby-smell!
Poor G is still not very happy about that big tooth that
is trying to find it’s way out..
This is the face of teething:

Today I also had the joy of spending the day with
daddy:

Georgie is teething.
Not just normal teething but proper
drooling-both-hands-in-mouth-bright-red-cheeks-
up-all-night teething. at three months old.
But it’s not all bad, because, while being up with him
till 3 am i get a lot done. None of what I should be getting
done, but anyway.
Last night we where again sitting, hugging, teething, & i was trying to
cut some fabric from a few of his outfits into squares for a quilt,
but scissors & babies don’t go well together, so i gave up after 5
squares. I thought & thought & thought about what to do with them,
& finally knit up a matching square out of some nice wool
& made a soft cube for George-Ezra for Christmas.
I can show you this because he does not know how to use a
computer, so it’s unlikely he will see it.

P1080332

I also could not resist the opportunity
to place it on my sleepy baby…

P1080324

Now i really should get going with christmas presents for
other people, there are twelve people who still need a present,
& that’s just germany! No idea what to do about the english family,
but I guess I can worry about that once we get back from our trip!
I really should have started this earlier.
Anyone else not quite done yet?

I wish I had something to say,
exciting stories to tell,
but I don’t.
Things have been so incredibly slow around here,
we haven’t done a lot, just preparing for
our trip to germany,
cleaning, washing, ironing, packing,making,wrapping..
But I thought I’d give you a little example of
what we have been crafting.
These are pocketwarmers, you warm them in the microwave
for 15 seconds & they stay warm fro around 20 minutes.
I can show you these because they are not a Christmas present,
but more just a random gift for my mother-in-law.

P1080237

I hope the next week we will have more time
to spend crafting , making & baking.
I wish you & yours a great weekend.

I am so very thankful for all this,
our slow evenings,
now that it gets dark a little earlier.
Daddy teaching Doctor Emi numbers ,
George-Ezra asleep after his dinner.
& I am here, with them, & I can’t imagine
ever being anywhere else.

Other things I am thankful for:

Mister Angrypants angry face,

Those toes:

& for this, : home.
sunrisesunset
I took this last year on Christmas Day.

This year we won’t be home for Christmas,
well, in a way we will be,
home is where the heart is ,
we will spend a week in germany ,
& I can’t wait to see the family over there,
meet my new siblings,
spend some time with old friends..
I can’t wait for my grandparents to meet Georgie,
see how tall Emi is,
to let them spoil my kids silly.
& Even though I am a bit nervous about
this Christmas, I am sure it will be fantastic.
