I love getting up before the children wake up,
everything is so quiet, & it always feels a bit
like Christmas morning,
a fantastic day, just about to begin.

The autumn book basket , a fabric basket,
nesting dolls, beanbags, puzzles, all waiting to be
played with,

Wool waiting to be turned into something ,
a ball, a bead, a doll,

This one, waiting for her own little mama to wake up,

it’s going to be a good day,i’m sure.

I’ve been busy knitting,

P1060820

a sweater that worked up quite quickly, 4 hours
maximum, i’d say. It’s much too big at the moment,
but at least George has got something nice & warm now.
I might needle-felt something to it, a leaf or acorn, maybe,
but i’m not sure just yet.

(it is quite hard to
take a photo of this little man.)

This pretty much sums up my day:

I’ve been busy writing notes ,
thank you cards & letters,
I’m also very busy with the christmas sewing. (already?!)
The days are already getting much shorter,
& we are having a hard time fitting everything in,
all the hugs & kisses, books, all our own projects..
We are going to stay in this house till at least
july, so i am working very hard now to make it a home,
i had kind of given up on that idea, but now that
we are definitely staying I want it to be ours.
We recently obtained this “treasure chest” as Emily calls it,
& I am very much in love with it.
I apologize for the bad photo quality, but taking a photo
in this light is not easy!:

I’m sorry I didn’t write anything,
it was my birthday on friday, & for that
i got some time .
Time to sew, that is.
So here is Miss Emily’s newest outfit,
it comes with a matching head-band & bracelet.

( The box has been her favourite toy ever since
it arrived from germany on tuesday!)

Splash Painting is an activity for
a rainy day, for a child that needs a bath anyway,
& a table that doesn’t mind getting wet..
It started with -foam printing- , where we added
food colouring & soap to hot water to make colourfull
bubbles. We then wanted to put the paper on top of
that to create a print. That was the idea, anyway.
It quickly turned into Emily splashing & spilling the water
with the four wooden sticks i had given her to make
more bubbles. i’m sure this was a lot more fun than
foam prints would have been :D

This is a card George made for me,
(with his daddys help, of course..:D )
[/it must have been so hard to trace his
wriggly hand & foot!)

The inside says :
“Thank you for looking after me & my
sister and for keeping the house
all lovely & tidy.
Love, George) ”

Yesterday during Emis nap I really wanted to make a little
“carpet” for our nature table, because I am not very happy
with the white colour, but i needed a project that would work
up quite quickly, ( she sleeps for about an hour )
so knitting wasn’t really an option.
We don’t have a weaving frame, so I “made” one
from two chairs & yarn & started weaving a little carpet:

P1060493

but the result wasn’t very pretty, so i threw it into the washing
machine to felt it,
which didn’t quite work the way I wanted it to.
We put it on the table anyway :D :

We are off to sunday lunch at the grandparents
house now, and after that we will go for a walk to
collect some more leaves for some autumnal crafts. :)
Have a good day!!

I don’t know if you can see it with this busy background,
but this is our autumn mobile.
It’s a stick Emi found & made all smoth with sandpaper,
a leaf she liked, an acorn & a needle from a tree.
we will add more as we find things, but
most our treasures go on our nature table :)

I am so glad it’s finally friday,
we have had such a busy week, & we all got up
at 1 am last night.
George-Ezra & me still have a cold,
but I really hope we can go and pick some apples
this weekend! We’ve been busy saving jars to
make some apple sauce to keep for the cold
winter days,
& maybe give as a gift to the family :)

I hope you all have a good weekend!

“Limitations live only in our minds. But if we use our imaginations, our possibilities become limitless.”
Jamie Paolinetti

I really enjoy Emilys newest discovery, her imagination.
She has used it before, obviously,
but only just in the past few weeks has she been
really enjoying it & all the possibilities it gives her.
She really likes to dress up, all day today she
was the dinosaur toothfairy,
and she’s often a lion when we go to the playground.

I made a few beanbags for her the other yesterday
& at the moment she prefers them to all her other toys,
which makes me very happy. They are used for all sorts
of things, we throw them, they become pillows for little
wool dolls, they become the main ingredient for
a delicious soup..

As you can see , I couldn’t even take them away
long enough to take a picture of them.

Another thing that is very loved recently
is the fabric basket, a basket filled with
scrap fabric, rectangles,squares, circles,
they become skirts, little blankets,
hats, a crown , & are perfect for a game of
hide and seek, because, if you can’t see them,
they can’t see you!

It’s one of those days today,
where nothing is quite like it should be.
After another sleepless night (there is still a monster
in her wardrobe) noone is in the mood for anything.
But we can’t just do -nothing- all day, so we made
a paper plate tambourine & autumn decoration.

I cut out these acorn & leaf shapes,
Emily coloured them,
then we painted them with watercolour & taped them
to the windows :) i’m loving it!

Being a mother means that your heart
is no longer yours; it wanders
wherever your children do.

George Ezra has got a cold & a blocked nose,
ever tried breastfeeding a baby that can’t breathe?
It’s no fun, really.
But I am still glad that it is getting cold here,
that way the babes can wear their matching hats:

George in the sling:
(There is some gorgeous red hair under that hat!)

Martha Stewart has a tutorial on how to make these
hats , it’s here .

They look great made out of a felted sweater!

I have so much to write about, but finding the time is
quite a challenge, so it will have to wait.
