Here We Are Together

I woke up this morning in quite a lot of pain ,
(isn’t your body supposed to wake you? )
i tought it would probably go away, but as of yet, it hasn’t.
It is now a really nasty pain in
my right leg, which had me, at one point, dropping to the floor.
now, i could have called a doctor, or at least Anthony,
who usually knows EVERYTHING
(i’m not joking, he really does know everything!) ,
but instead i crawled over to my laptop & googled it.
apparently it is:

Sciatic Nerve
The sciatic nerve runs from the lower back down to the feet.
This nerve can become inflamed due to pressure of the growing
baby during pregnancy. When this happens, severe pain results.
Sciatica is one of the more painful complications of pregnancy.

If you have sciatic nerve pain, you will know it.
Sciatic pain is unlike other lower back and leg pains you may get
during your pregnancy. It is also very different from the leg cramps
that may wake you in the night.
Sciatic nerve pain is a sharp, shooting pain that goes from your lower back,
down the back of the leg.

Yep, that sounds like it.

Anyway,
wonder what these animals are doing?

that’s right, apparently they are waiting for daddy.

& being the terrible mother i am, i let her.
she has been standing there all this time.
left a few times to get a blanket , a teapot & a car,
but other than that, she has been
waiting. & i am not going to stop her.
we had a really bad night with lots of crying, &
she must be really tired, & i’m thankful for any break i get,
so what the heck,
let her wait, it’s only another 5 hours anyway.

I usually am annoyed with Emi sleeping in our bed,
but yesterday while she was half asleep, she opened her eyes
& mumbled “i love you,daddy”.

i’m sure he would have replied ,
if it wasn’t for emi sleeping with her head on my head,
& her feet in his face.
(to be honest, i’m surprised he can breathe.)

We had a good weekend, spending most of our days at our beach.
While looking through the photos we noticed this one:

It doesn’t look like the Emi we know, it is a much older,
almost grown-up version of her.
We wonder if this is her, our daughter,
& what she is going to look like as a teenager.
( ignore her fabulous outfit & her height, obviously.)
Sometimes,when she is asleep in our bed, & i watch her for
a while ( i am allowed to, it’s not creepy, i’m her mum,)
i see that same face, nothing really left of that chubby
little baby she used to be. & then we worry.
i don’t want her to grow up this quickly.

anyway, george could be born any day from the 23rd now,
so we are all just waiting for that to happen, eating spicy food,
going for looooong walks & all that nonsense.

well, i guess it’s alright for a princess to fall asleep on the dog-chair throne.

Sometimes i complain about living in the middle of nowhere,
with the next post office 1 hour away,
but days like today make me realize how very
lucky we are to live where we live.
So today we went to our beach.

oh & we finally sent the thank you cards.
we were not being lazy, just very,very busy.

Sooo..
after spending almost all day yesterday in hospital because of some bleeding ,
(you totally wanted to know,didn’t you?) ,
i have to admit that it actually isn’t as bad as i thought it would be.
British hospitals,i mean.
i still want to have george at home,obviously,
& on my notes the doctor wrote “keen to go home” , which makes me laugh.
After we came home I went straight to bed & slept for quite some time,
which is why i stayed up all night.
& because i didn’t just want to sit around doing nothing ,
& because i had a ball of really nice yarn left,
& because i am never going to finish the sweater for georgein time,
i knit.
i knit a scarf, a hat & some baby booties for him:

i know, i know, he is a boy & shiny satin bows might not be a -boy- thing, but
i really think it’s adorable & he’ll look great in it.

& because after that i still had some yarn left ,
his monkey got a matching hat & scarf,too.

anyway, i’m quite tired & i’ve got a cold as well, so i’m off to bed now,
& very thankful for the rain , because it makes it slightly easier to
convince emily that it is, indeed , already time to go to bed.
i hope everyone else is doing fine,

i knit a bowl, (at least that’s what i thought.)

oh well, i’m glad she’s here to let me
know about that sort of thing.
